Overview
You can now quickly create and update multiple Organizational Units (OUs) at once using the bulk upload feature. All you need is an import file (Excel or CSV) with your data.
Who Can Use This
This feature is available for Admins and System Users (SU) who have permission to manage Organizational Units.
Before You Start
Prepare your OU data in a spreadsheet file.
Make sure your file contains:
External OU ID – a unique ID for each unit
OU Name – the name of the organizational unit
Parent OU ID – the external ID of the parent unit (if empty, it’s a top-level unit)
Manager ID – the employee external ID of the manager (optional)
Status – Active or Inactive (if not set, it defaults to Active)
How to Upload
Go to the Admin area and open the Organizational Units page.
Click the ⋯ (More) menu and choose Import OUs.
Upload your Excel or CSV file.
Review the data preview and confirm the import.
Once the upload is complete, you’ll receive an email summary with details:
How many new OUs were created
How many existing OUs were updated
If there were any errors, the email will show them with explanations
Updating Existing OUs
If your file contains OUs that already exist in the system (based on the same External OU ID), the system will automatically update their details.
You can update the OU’s name, parent, manager, or status.
The system will validate all the information before saving it to make sure the structure remains correct.
Error Examples
If the upload file contains mistakes, the system will skip the invalid lines and include them in the email summary.
For example:
Missing External OU ID
Invalid Parent ID that doesn’t exist in the system
Manager ID that doesn’t match any employee
Status not recognized (must be “Active” or “Inactive”)
Tips for a Smooth Upload
Before uploading, make sure:
Each External OU ID is unique and correct.
The Parent OU IDs match existing units in your hierarchy.
You double-check your Manager IDs.
